Drive Backup Uploader is a Windows desktop app made by the Drive Backup Uploader team. It copies backup files from a folder on your computer into a folder in your own Google Drive. This page explains what Google data the app uses and what it does with it.
What Google data the app can access
- Only files the app creates itself. The app asks for the
drive.filepermission. With it, the app can see and manage only the folder and files it created. It cannot see, open or change any other file in your Google Drive. - Your email address and storage usage, so the app can show which account is signed in and how much space is left.
What the app does with it
- Creates one folder in your Drive and uploads your backup files into it.
- Deletes older backups that it uploaded, if you turn that on in its settings.
- Shares that folder read-only with the email addresses you enter in its settings, and removes access when you remove an address.
Where your data goes
Your files go directly from your computer to Google. Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else. We run no servers for this app, collect no analytics, and show no ads. We never see your files, your Google account or your sign-in.
What is stored on your computer
In %APPDATA%\DriveBackupUploader: your settings, a log, a list of the
backups already uploaded, and your Google sign-in. The sign-in is encrypted with Windows
so only your Windows user on that computer can use it.
Removing access
Click Sign out in the app, or remove the app at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Deleting the folder above removes everything the app stored on your computer.
Google API Services User Data Policy
